When should you have your motorcycle diagnosed?

• A fault or warning light is on.
• Your motorcycle runs unevenly, hesitates or stalls.
• It starts badly.
• Something electrical behaves strangely, such as the dashboard or the lights.
• A fault keeps coming back.

What do diagnostics tell you, and what not?

With the diagnostic tool we see the fault codes the motorcycle has stored. Such a code points to a system or sensor, but not always to the real cause. A sensor fault code can also come from a loose connector or a weak battery, for example. That is why we then measure and check ourselves, before any parts are replaced.

Can you have a BMW diagnosed without a dealer?

You can also bring your BMW to us for diagnostics. An example from our workshop: on a BMW R1200GS Adventure the dashboard no longer showed neutral. After connecting the diagnostic tool, resetting the shift values and re-teaching the gear positions, everything worked again.

And other makes?

Whether we can run diagnostics on your motorcycle depends on make, model and year. Older motorcycles without electronics have nothing to connect to; on those we find faults the classic way. What does it cost?
