How many km between motorcycle services?

How many kilometres between services is in your manufacturer's service schedule. It gives an interval in kilometres and in time, and whichever comes first counts. If you ride little, a service once a year is usually wise, because oil and brake fluid also age.

Do kilometres or time count?

The service schedule in your owner's manual gives an interval in kilometres and an interval in time, whichever comes first. The intervals differ per make and model, so we don't give a fixed number here.

Why does time count too?

If you ride few kilometres, a service may not seem necessary. Yet oil, brake fluid and tyres also age when your motorcycle stands still. Brake fluid absorbs moisture and oil loses quality over time. That is why a yearly service is usually wise, even if you don't reach the kilometres.

Minor or major service?

The schedule also tells you which service belongs to which mileage. Read the difference in major or minor service: what is the difference?

Lost the manual?

Don't have the manual any more, or don't know when the last service was? Send us your make, model, year and mileage. We find out which service is due.

What do you check yourself in between?

  • Tyre pressure, with cold tyres.
  • Tread and damage.
  • Chain slack and lubrication.
  • Oil level, as described in the manual.
  • Lights and brakes.
